Deadlines – some people love them and use them to get their work done efficiently. Others simply hate them.
One of my favourite quotes is from Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. “I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.”
In marketing, however, a deadline is an extremely useful tool. Put something on offer for a limited length of time and you will get a good response.
• Deadlines grab people’s attention
• Deadlines make people focus
• Deadlines create an illusion of urgency
Nobody likes missing out so your customers will want to take advantage of your offer before it disappears. If they have a deadline then they know they have to act quickly or the opportunity to seize a bargain will be gone.
It’s not rocket science but then none of the best marketing ideas ever are.
