Don’t forget your Mothers Day promotions

Why is Mothers Day so important?

For a start, we all have one! But what is the history of Mothers Day or Mothering Sunday? At Link Directories we have the answer.

The modern holiday of Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908, when a lady called Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in West Virginia in USA. She then began a campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognised holiday in the United States and although she was successful in 1914, she was disappointed with the way it was commercialised by the 1920s.

Jarvis’ holiday was adopted by other countries and it is now celebrated all over the world. In this tradition, each person offers a gift, card, or remembrance toward their mothers, grandmothers, and/ or maternal figure on Mother’s Day.

So don’t miss out on the opportunity to promote your Mothers Day event in the Gloucester area and remember that this year it is Sunday 30 March.
